Day 6- Most Annoying Character

Ooh do they just LOVE to state the obvious! Sure, you can drop a no-brainer on someone by accident, but after the third time you start saying OUT LOUD "really? No s**t!" Sad thing was that that if the characters never spoke the plotline might have been decent. By the time i was done playing this game i regretted the fact i did; only good thing that came out of it was that i didnt have to pay for it.


Day 7- Favorite Game Couple

Chell and GLADOS from Portal

In spite of Chell being the silent protagonist, GLADOS is always there to entertain her with promises of cake and sarcasm

Day 8- Best Soundtrack


1) Still Alive from Portal

Still my favorite score that was originally from a game. How else could you mention cake in a lyric and not be asked 'what were you thinking?!'

2) Mad World from Gears of War

One of the most moving song covers ive heard, especially if you listen to it and do nothing else, it does bring you down a level. Gary Jules really gave this song justice compared to the original which you can listen to here

Day 9- Saddest Game Scene

You're the Inspiration from ELITE BEAT AGENTS on Nintendo DS

No exceptions, its self-explanatory. This is the most touching scene i have ever played through, probably because it became personal, im not sure.

Day 10- Best Gameplay

GTA IV, no contest.

BUT that doesnt mean it is the MOST innovative gameplay, it's just the best.

HAPPY AMERICA DAY!

Hehe, i know it was yesterday BUT i couldn't post because that meant i would have to pay 20$ just for basic internet at the hotel i was at for the holiday weekend. The Fourth of July fireworks at lenox in Atlanta was rained on the entire time, but the show started despite the rain. Everyone was soaking wet after the show, but hey: the fireworks still worked! I planned to film the fireworks until i learned of the rain, but i wouldnt have been a happy camper if i ruined my camera in the rain...

Anyways, I DID manage to take photos some of the places I went to while I was there, including the strange bathroom at the four-star hotel I stayed in. youll see why its so awkward.

Week 1: 30 days of gaming

Day 1- very first video game
Reader Rabbit

hey look! its as old as me!

That's right. Im not ashamed. I learned my three-letter words from that thing, how to spell my name right, how to count and add, all before first grade. I wont say i loved it, but i can say this- reader rabbit was my first, and then Kidpix. who remembers Kidpix?


Day 2- your favorite character
Kirby 
From Super Smash Brothers ( circa 1999) Kirby was easily the best character not only because he was one of the only two players that can fly, but he always stole everyone else's identity by sucking the person into its mouth. Also the second 3d character ive ever played with.

Day 3- a game that is underrated
Treasure planet
My favorite game for the longest time, i played this for hours. Its underrated because
1) the game was based off a movie
2) it was disney
3) treasure planet the movie is still in my most favorite movie section.

 3 words: I. Love. It.

This is the second movie that had the largest impact on my childhood, and i only saw it twice then...

Day 4- your guilty pleasure
MINECRAFT
I get eyestrain from it because i forget to light a torch so i can see what im digging through. i do my best to make awesome structures, but every time they turn out way smaller than i want. i dig, i build, i make awesome stuff,
hey, its minecraft.
I cant believe im addicted to it.

My arch- nemeses: the 'good' mob. (the pig, sheep, cow, chicken) god, look at their stupid looking faces!  theyre ALWAYS gumming up my dastardly contraptions, then when you find out whats wrong, they just stop and stare at you with the same stupid, stupid look on their face. the tragedy: no matter how many you kill, they will never go extinct...

Day 5- game character i feel i am most like
THE PROTAGONIST

Honestly, i really dont know! I've never related to video games. Sure, ive had my favorites, but characters that are like me? Either they were nothing like me, or i never heard of the game...

Well i think its true...

Well i found this picture on one of my friend's tumblr, and i found it hilarious, and surprisingly accurate...

But its missing something,

 its missing two more pics- America as seen by Americans, and Europe as seen by Europeans. Fortunately for us, I live in America, and have gone to great lengths to create the following pic. If anyone grew up in a European country, please feel free to make your own!

 In my last post i ragged on about how great Helen, GA is and that it looks picturesque. To justify these claims, here are some photos from Helen, GA. I'm sorry that ive only took picture of the putt-putt course, but i can tell you that this is only the beginning of the town. you can see part of the town in the first and last picture here. I couldnt photograph the rest of the town because i was driving, and even if i did it simply wouldnt do it justice. i mean, you cant see the world's largest homebuilt model railroad from the car, can you? (There really is a model railroad run by german immigrants right on the main street!) anyways, even though i took picture of what was outside of town, you can still feast your eyes!

Kerna ON WEBCAM!

Alrighty- the Kerna project has been moving slowly, but surely. The second part of the wiki is finished, and now im working on part 3. I’ve made a new goal for this time to have at least 1 drawing to every 3 pages, just so it will not become just a boring textbook. By now I can imagine that just rattling on about something I’ve yet to show you is uninteresting, and so I want to show you a few pages from my sketchbook. I forgot to use the scanner before I left, but I do have the second best thing-

 webcam!

I put the camera on its highest quality and snapped a few shots of the sketchbook.

I do promise to digitize all the pages once I actually finish this project.

Thank you everyone for visiting my site regularly! Already i've topped 50 guests for this month, and i still have quite a few posts i really want to show in time ;-)

So i've finally scanned about 4 pages from my Kerna project (finally), but by the time i was typing this, i found i forgot to move the files from the scanner to my hard drive! That's a real bummer, but at least i haven't lost anything yet. As of now, the second part of the Kerna wiki is largely unfinished, because working on that really hurts my brain because everything must be plausible.

However, I DID complete the second chronicle, and lucky for all of us it is about 3 pages longer and a wee bit less of a hard read ( the first chapter will be posted when i feel that i've created enough of the Kerna universe to make it interesting)

I also took the liberty of creating some 'visual aids' with the second chapter to help as well. Those were both quick AND fun!

To not waste you time with this blog, how about i post the new wallpapers i've found!

Someone remind me about the scanner?

Well- I've certainly made progress over the last week over the Kerna Project. I've already written the first chapter of the chronicle, and finally finished my first two parts of my wiki, which i plan to include with the chronicle to go further in depth with the peoples' lives in this fictional universe. My goal is to make you feel like the universe is real and is not just a bunch of short stories lashed together. stay with me here, but i think a wiki would be a very interesting read even though its not a story, as it may open to new perspectives one wouldn't see before! (thank you cleverbot for making me see this).

So- so far i've a total of 26 pages of random points in Kerna, including the outline and many visual aids. Speaking of which, someone needs to remind me to begin scanning in my notebook so i can at least post some of this stuff...

Things i'm proud of so far:

1) the drawings- they look awesome, theyre distinct between each other too

2) the concept of the wiki- so many ideas i need to write about (thank you Sarah for brainstorming with me!) and the outline is incredibly organized already

3) the first chapter of the chronicle- it explains how Kerna history began in the form of an ancient script that is spoken in a bible-like manner. I think i like the concept of just capturing snapshots in stories than just revealing everyone's viewpoint at once

Things i hate so far-

1) SOOO MUCH STUFF TO EXPLAIN AND FILL IN

2) My current explanations i've started with in the wiki i feel needs work

3) I want more pictures but they take up ALOT of time to make

The Kerna Project

Sorry for the shorter posts this week- I've been quite busy and still am with school, scouts and a couple other things.

Anyway, i am itching to reveal that my last venture with science fiction made me really want to make a go at something bigger than just a paragraph-
A galaxy, complete with its own history, heroes, plights and progress! Right now i've outlined the entire setting and began on the first of the chronicle. I still need to fill in the blanks on pretty much every aspect, but hey; i'm having the time of my life making this! And that, is how it should be.

Now, i have a question for you: should i reveal part of the outline on tuesday, or would it be better to wait and show something a little more interesting?

The neverending project

Artistic ability should never forced, but found. However, what you may find could easily be lost, so you use it so you wont lose it. Be it the photographer's eye, depth of perception, how to draw environments, people and animals, special styles, or some other trick that you picked up along the way. Art is a neverending project, as there is always something out there that absolutely has to be shared with everyone else.

I tried to mock-up an adobe-esque icon to use as a logo.
The gradient was horrid, so i did away with it. Comment?

Hi everyone, I've come up with some sample logos for an upcoming business, but i need feedback on what logos i should can, and what i should improve on. after all, everyone sees the world in a different perspective! Please leave comments!

Simple. Flat. Minimal. I like minimal. But i need someone
other than me to give an opinion!

This "hexagon" logo is perhaps my favorite of these three,
but only because it has a 3d look to it (that was by accident).
I need a second opinions on this one, because it might not fit
its genre...

Art- Photography

By using the dark arts of professional photography, and a little perfection wizard called photoshop, i have successfully created masterpiece photos that i am incredibly proud to call my own! Ill show one of my favorites-->


Just in case, I will state that this is a before- after comparison, with the unaltered photo in color, and the one in B&W edited with photoshop...

This photo I thought was the best out of my total 30 pictures of "Catherine", because of the background, angle, and frame composition. In simpler terms, I just liked it best.


With the help of my magical photo wizardry, i moved her to the other side of the photo so she didn't look so crowded in the right corner. So, how in the world did i manage to keep her entire arm in the picture without any cutoffs? By teaching myself a few things while playing around with photoshop, i discovered something: I can actually duplicate a pattern from another part of the picture to substitute for a blemish or for something that was never there...


Pretty good for doing that manually, no? 
The next photoshoot is next month, but i will be sure to keep posting my work regularly until and after then!

Stories

                Has it ever happened to you? When a story begins with an amazing and fantastic expository that gets you lost in the mythical world, then a burst of conflict and it just ends? It leaves you think ‘what. The. Hell.’ And wonder who wrote this so you can go into their house and cram all their TP inside the toilet resovoir? It is most disappointing, no? OR what about when you DO play a game with an amazing story, and you just wish there  was a way to contribute to this fictional universe? I challenge you: MAKE your setting come true. WRITE what you wish to have the story develop into.

                What if you have the perfect setting, that you want developed into a story? Please do describe it, maybe someone will make something of it one day…

                Okay, ill start with painting a setting.

I stared at the rearview mirror in the car. Behind is nothing. Miles on miles of black pavement which stretches on into the arid wasteland. Funny, I came from nowhere, heading towards who-knows-where. I need hope.  Eventually I noticed the constant pinging to remind me that my door is still open, allowing the last of my comforts of air conditioning to escape forever. Trying to peer through the dust-swept windows, I do my best to trace the line of the skeletons of skyscrapers before me, but it is not how I last remembered. At last I start to get out of the car, minding not to touch the baking metal on my door. The City lays before, and the only sign of life is the withering trees lining the avenue. Looking around, there appears to be a sizeable bluff on my right, and a brown haze far off to my left; another storm cell is coming. Walking towards the former citadel of socialites, the first building you see is a letdown: a hydrogen station, and over the price marquee hung ‘out of service’. Hopefully someone left their car in a parking garage here. Hopefully someone decided to stay, just for someone like me.

This is crude, sets a mood and tone, but overall it paints a picture of where you are: in some deserted desert city on a post- apocalyptic world. Once you have a setting in your head, what you describe simply ebbs out into this magnificent setting anyone could suspend their belief and really get into. Now, we already know that the best have mastered this art: now they must overcome the next obstacle that most of them fail to deliver on- creating the story in this fantasy that we love so much! Unfortunately, I’ve only had yesterday to write this down, so no elaborate story here.…

                Anyway, this is your part- inspire yourself; Finish what was left off. Make your own story. The best artists are never paid to do their best, that’s why there’s so much potential out there; Imagination is simply itching for you to fill in the blanks, to give it a greater reason than just a whimsical thought. Someone out there is bound to appreciate what you create, what you sketch, draw and write. Already there are communities, fansites and clubs that crave and enjoy this kind of stuff! Everyone always has something to share…
